Army Sgt. 1st Class Alejandro Granado died Aug. 2 in Qole Gerdsar, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device. Also killed were Capt. Ronald G. Luce and Sgt. 1st Class Severin W. Summers III.

Oh! Alex, words can not even come close to the sadness and pain we feel in our hearts at knowing you will never be here again, our pain is so deep. I know you are in heaven with the Lord and keeping an eye on all of us . I am so very glad you got to see the love of your life before you went to Afghanistan, I know how you felt about her...Thank you! for your service to our country...Your a True "AMERICAN HERO" I am so sorry we were not there at the services, had we known we would have been there!
