Army Spc. Christopher M. Kurth died June 4 in Kirkuk, Iraq, of wounds suffered when his vehicle was struck by an anti-tank grenade.

To his wife, if you ever see this, he talked about you all the time, he even wanted to get you a cat. I wanted you to know. I was lucky enough to work with SPC Kurth, and lucky is the right word. He was a great guy and a fantastic soldier. We were both cooks, and working with him made my days easier. Never one to stand back and watch other, or to take the easy way out. I am lucky to have known you Kurth.
