Army Chief Warrant Officer Don C. Viray died April 19 in Helmand province, Afghanistan, when his Black Hawk (UH-60) crashed. Also killed were Chief Warrant Officer Nicholas S. Johnson, Sgt. Dean R. Shaffer and Sgt. Chris J. Workman.
