Memorial set for Okla sailor killed in Afghanistan

SHAWNEE, Okla. &mdash A memorial service has been scheduled for a Shawnee sailor who was killed in Afghanistan.
Naval hospitalman Eric D. Warren died Saturday of wounds he suffered when an improvised explosive device blew up in the Sangin District of the Helmand Province. The 23-year-old was assigned to 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 6, 1st Marine Division (Forward), I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
VFW Post 1317 commander Al Wright told The Oklahoman the post will conduct a ceremony at 10 a.m. Thursday at Woodland Veterans Park in Shawnee.
Wright says a wreath will be placed on the Navy flag, which represents a fallen soldier.
