A LIFE REMEMBERED
Army Cpl. Jason D. Hovater died of wounds sustained when his outpost was attacked by small-arms fire and rocket propelled grenades from enemy forces in Wanat, Afghanistan, on July 13. Also killed were 1st Lt. Jonathan P. Brostrom, Sgt. Israel Garcia, Cpl. Jonathan R. Ayers, Cpl. Jason M. Bogar, Cpl. Matthew B. Phillips, Cpl. Pruitt A. Rainey, Cpl. Gunnar W. Zwilling and Pfc. Sergio S. Abad.

Thank you for answering the call to duty and performing the selfless act that you did. America owes you a debt of gratitude. You will be greatly missed my friend. I'll never forget the great times we had together, and all the laughter we shared. Through the good times and the bad, you were always there for me, and I thank you for that. You were like a brother to me. God bless you and your family. We will always remember. We will never forget. You are a true hero. My hero. I love you buddy and I'll never forget you.

Jason was our friend, our brother, a beautiful and kind young man who always wanted to help someone. He had every reason to be full of himself, yet he had not one arrogant cell in his body or soul. His voice was angelic and anointed by God, his sense of humor was profound. He was never afraid to laugh at himself or do impressions and voices of people.....he was hilarious. We have had so much fun knowing him. We will never go a day without thinking of Jason Dane Hovater. What a hero.
