Army Sgt. Jason T. Palmerton was killed July 23 when he came under enemy small-arms fire while conducting a dismounted patrol in Qal'eh-Yegaz, Afghanistan.

I'll never forget Jason's smile. We met on a detail in the army, and we became instant friends. In the following months we grew closer, and he was always there to make me laugh, even when no one else could. His family are in my prayers...I'll never understand why someone with as much life as Jason had his cut so short.
