The News & Record of Greensboro reported that the body of Sgt. Jeremy F. Hardison arrived from Dover Air Force Base on Monday morning. Hardison and two other soldiers were killed in Afghanistan by a suicide bomber last week. Members of the National Guard carried the casket to a hearse that took Hardison&#39s body to a funeral home. The hearse was escorted by the North Carolina Highway Patrol and the Patriot Guard Riders, a motorcycle group that attends military funerals. Capt. Rick Scoggins said Hardison will probably be buried Thursday at Salisbury National Cemetery. Hardison joined the National Guard in 2006. He had deployed to Iraq from 2008 to 2009. Jeremy F. Hardison of Browns Summit is scheduled to be buried Thursday at the Salisbury National Cemetery. The burial will follow a service at the Southside Baptist Church in Greensboro. The 23-year-old soldier was killed Oct. 1 with two other members of the Winterville-based 514th Military Police Company when a Taliban suicide bomber rammed a motorcycle packed with explosives into a joint U.S.-Afghan patrol in Khost, Afghanistan. Hardison joined the military in 2006 and previously deployed to Iraq. Sgt. Thomas J. Butler IV of Leland is to be buried Friday in Wilmington. A funeral service for Staff Sgt. Donna R. Johnson of Raeford is scheduled for Saturday. Both also were killed in the attack.
