Military officials say 27-year-old Sgt. Jeremy Summers of Mount Olivet died of injuries suffered after enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire last Wednesday, the Lexington Herald-Leader reports. He died on Thursday. His mother, Laura Summers, says he had served six years in the Army, including a tour of duty in Iraq. He was also stationed in Korea for a while. Laura Summers says her husband, Mike, is retired from the Army, and she served four years herself. She said her son emailed his father recently to get his opinion about re-enlisting. Jeremy Summers was a 2002 graduate of Bracken County High School.
