Navy Special Warfare Operator Petty Officer 1st Class (SEAL) Jesse D. Pittman died Aug. 6 in Wardak province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when the CH-47 Chinook helicopter in which he was riding was shot down. Was 6-year veteran of service Staff report Jason Pittman, 27, of Willits, Calif., enlisted in March 2005, according to the Navy. After completing training at the Defense Information School, Pittman attended Defense Information School at Fort Meade, Md., before attending and graduating from Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training in Coronado, Calif. He reported to his West Coast-based SEAL team in April 2007.
