Army Sgt. Joshua A. Schmit died April 14 in Fallujah, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. Also killed was Sgt. Brandon L. Wallace.

My precious son, I am forever lost without the sound of your voice and the touch of your hand! What a cruel joke! You only had 10 days left in hell, you saw the end of your god-awful tour coming. Your military contract would have been fullfilled and you were sooooo ready to get on with life and face your future with your new bride:) Then you blinked your eyes and found yourself in heaven!! I know you were pissed-as-hell! Now, it is almost two years since that horrible moment. I know now you probably would not leave for nothing! Save me a seat buddy! I can hardly wait to be with you!!
