Marine 1st Sgt. Luke J. Mercardante died April 15 in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, while conducting combat operations. Also killed was Marine Cpl. Kyle W. Wilks.

To all that loved Luke, our condolences. Our cousin, Kyle W. Wilks was the other soldier that was killed by the IED that took Luke's life that horrible night. Our hearts broke for our beloved Kyle and we share in your loss of Luke as well. We will keep Luke's family and friends in our thoughts and prayers.
