Navy Lt. Michael M. McGreevy Jr. died June 28 when an MH-47 Chinook helicopter crashed while ferrying personnel to a battle against militants in eastern Afghanistan.

I miss you, man. I think about you all the time. Especially days like today, Memorial Day. Thank you for being who you were, for doing what you did. You left us way too soon, but I am sure you wouldn't have changed a thing. I'm so thankful that I had the opportunity to know you. The flag that flies in my front yard is for you. Thanks for making your life about others. About average guys like myself.

Michael, you were so young to be taken from us, but I want to thank you and any members of your family for the service to our country. Without brave men like you, all our hopes and dreams for the future of freedom for all would be gone in an instant.
