A LIFE REMEMBERED
Army Staff Sgt. Nekl B. Allen died Sept. 12 in Wardak province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised-explosive device and small arms fire. Also killed was Spc. Daniel L. Cox.

I went to H.S. with Nekl. He was a wonderful guy. Nekl was the guy you could count on, a true friend. He was always good for a laugh. He touched the lives of everyone he knew.
My favorite memory was him trying to teach me and my friend tiffany how to drive a standard. He let us jerk and stall out his car a hundred times, nothing much came out of the lesson aside from a headache and a few laughs. It was a great experience.
He will be greatly missed! My prayers and thought are with his family.

I had the honor of serving with Nekl during OIF IV in the Rakkasans. I remember him as bright and motivated Soldier. He was an exceptional NCO who could always be found exactly where he belonged, with his men. His service exemplified the best in all of us. He will not be forgotten.

Others can only imagine the sacrifice you have made for our country and for the safety, peace, defense and freedom of others. Having also proudly served, I salute you and morn with you in your loss. SSG Allen is a hero and now rests in heaven. Bless you all and may the Lord comfort you in this most difficult and challenging time. Know that you will be thought of after this posting.
