Marine Cpl. Paul W. Zanowick II
died in combat in Afghanistan.
The military says 23-year-old Cpl. Paul Zanowick II, of Miamisburg, died June 3. The Dayton Daily News quotes Marine Inspector Instructor 1st Sgt. Harry Kindrick as saying Zanowick was killed in combat in southern Afghanistan's Helmand province.
The military says Zanowick enlisted in the Marines in January 2008 and was on his second deployment. He served as an anti-tank missile man. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force at Twentynine Palms, Calif.
Zanowick is survived by a wife and son in Twentynine Palms, and parents and a sister in Miamisburg.
