Army Staff Sgt. Shannon M. Smith died of wounds sustained when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an explosive device Sept. 8 in Baji, Iraq. Also killed were Pfc. Thomas F. Lyons and Pfc. Zachary T. Myers.
