A LIFE REMEMBERED

Army Pfc. Tyler M. Springmann died July 17 in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. Also killed was Army Sgt. 1st Class Kenneth B. Elwell. Maine soldier killed in Afghanistan laid to rest The Associated Press NEWPORT, Maine - More than 200 people attended the funeral for a 19-year-old soldier from Maine who was killed in Afghanistan. Services for Army Pfc. Tyler Springmann were held Friday at Nokomis Regional High in Newport, where he graduated last year. Burial, with military honors, was at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter. Springmann died July 17 in Kandahar in a roadside blast that also claimed another soldier&#39s life and injured seven others. He served in the 25th Stryker Brigade, out of Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Gov. Paul LePage, who directed that U.S. and Maine flags be flown at half-staff in Springmann&#39s honor, was among those attending Friday&#39s services.
